Many jogs ago my trusty Nokia N95 flew out of my arm band and hit the concrete at full speed. Parts went flying everywhere. I thought it took the fall quite well, barely a scratch on it.
Only problem is, the GPS cut out. No connection afterward. I thought the chip was dead because it kept reporting "no connection"
I just took it apart and re-soldered the antenna and it's back in business!
More jog info to come! I'm happy
I've recently gotten hooked on this app for my Nokia N95 cell phone called SportsTracker. It uses the accelerometer and GPS chips in my cell phone to track my exercise. You select what exercise you're gonna do (jog, walk, bike...) and kick off the app. It pulls a GPS lock of your current position, altitude... and then monitors you. It keeps track of your speed, pace, distance, steps, altitude, music you're listening to, and will even patch into a heart rate monitor if you have one. You can then upload your workouts to the website with pictures you've taken along the way.
Love it!
It's helped me keep track of how far I've gone, my average pace, elevations...
Strangely enough I'm finding that I run slower without Ben in the Chariot yelling "what are you doing daddy?!" and "Faster daddy!"
My Dashboard
Went to a local "drive in" car show Saturday with Jess and the kids. Had a great time. Saw a Lamboghini, a Porsche, a Ferrari, lots of Mustangs both old and new, many Corvettes, lots of muscle cars from the 60's and 70's.
The thing that really got me, well Ben, though was an old Ford from the 20's. Ben was utterly enthralled. The car wasn't in "show" condition. The owner was actually trying to restore it to it's original condition. He was extremely nice and let Ben sit in it and play with the controls (what few there were). I think Ben could have stayed there with that car for another hour. He kept asking to go see "the truck". Hehe.
There was a band playing "surf". They were actually very good. I was really diggin the tunes. Ben was digging them too. He just stood in front of the band staring at them. There were several people getting pictures. It was very cute. It wouldn't surprise me to see him in the local paper next week!
What's the biggest obstacle you've had to overcome within the last 24 hours?

Biggest obstacle? Hmm... Only folks that understand J.D.Edwards EnterpriseOne will understand this one. I'm going through an install of 9.0 with 8.98.1 Tools Release on Windows 2003 using OEE and Oracle Db 10gR2. My workbenches were failing after my planner completed. We had to dig and find a typo on my part in one of my tnsnames.ora files. D'oh!
I had my tonsils out about a month and a half ago and have been utterly lazy since. I've recently vowed to get back into a regular running routine and one of the things that I hope will help is tech! Yes, I love tecchie thingies. Big shocker there.
I've got a super swanky Nokia N95 mobile phone that does just about everything. It's even got GPS. Nokia has released an app that uses GPS and the acccelerometer to track your steps, speed, mileage, altitude... I'm going to start using it to track my jogs. Check it out:

Heck, I even think it'll track what songs you're listening to. I wonder if it will graph out the music to your speed so you can see how fast you run when listening to, say, Rage Against the Machine vs. Michael Bolton. hehe
I also have been reading up about running barefoot. When I was at home a lot after my surgery, I was taking a lot of walks to the park(s) with the kids and was barefoot most of the time. I had no problems, but when I tried running a few times MAN my knees were killing me! Guess I'm a shoe kinda guy. My knees like the extra padding methinks.
That is the funnest cucumber I ever read more
on Jackpot!
